the artist
Neis Wai is an abstract artist based in Sydney. She studied drawing at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, painting at Central Saint Martins in London, and lithography at The Art Students League of New York. After completing her studies, she spent a year in Europe doing the Grand Tour, which is still a source of inspiration for her work. Neis’ work draws on eclectic references ranging from natural history to abstract art, and her superior draftsmanship and painterly technique evoke a long tradition of skilled artisans and artists, ranging from botanical illustrators to the Old Masters. She is particularly interested in exploring themes such as emergence, complexity, and ecology. Her work is in private collections globally.
